Poems- I

Picture by my friend, quite a long time ago.

I wouldn't call myself a poet. A good one, atleast. But every once in a while someone else takes over. Enjoy!

Wrote this one last night because I had an exam. And I felt like doing literally anything other than studying.
My favorite line: You took me in your arms
                                And like waves we collided

Wrote this one some two months back. Just because.
My favorite line: But my heart forgets.

  1. Around the corridor walking quiet and shy,
You always caught me staring with my eyes.

Her eyes were truly captivating holding every stare,
Tons of joy locked inside that , I can hardly bear.

She caught me staring and simply looked away,
If she speaks to me , I wouldn’t know what else to say.

I swayed , remembered and I closed my eyes,
Is this true that this is love or am I believing on lies ?

With that sparkle in her eyes enough to make a flame,
I wasn’t that brave enough to stay in that staring game .

Her eyes that took me near as it may take awhile,
just to wait and see if she would give a smile.

Aimlessly I will keep that stare with thoughts unread,
Just to let her know so much that was left unsaid.

that staring game she wins yet again ..

  2. Dear Stranger,

    I don't usually spill secrets
But I think I’ll make an exception
    So listen close,
    Open your eyes wide
    Hope it adjusts your perception.
    These eyes are a delusion
    A calculated disguise,
    An alcoholic’s poison;
    Nothing but a mere illusion.
If you look too deep, fly too close
It’s certain; You WILL be harmed
My flame will burn your wings
Don't tell me you were not warned.

  3. In your eyes there is so much more
It goes beyond the deepest blue,
Such beauty I’ve not seen before
In your eyes I see hope and the love I have for you.

Far beyond the white like freshly fallen snow
I see your heart pure as a dove,
To explain the wondrous beauty the words I don’t know
All I can give is my own true love.

Flecks of green and yellow spark imagination and fire
    A beauty rarely seen
    No artist’s pallet could conspire
A picture so perfect and clean.

But far beyond the color, I see what makes you whole
If I look deep inside your eyes my dear, I see your soul.

  4. Life is colourful
But not in the way I'd like,
    Its shades keep changing
From lemon to blue to burgundy,
    Feels like I'm living
In a constant state of melancholy.

    Tried hard not to stare
At the melody that kept swirling
    In front of my eyes
    And through my ears,
    Sometimes I forgot breathing.
And it trapped me into the deep
Clawed hard to come up from beneath,
But it was hard to hold on
    The walls were too steep.

    Never thought I'd wish
For a colourless life of black and white,
Of boring creatures and ordinary sight..
Never thought I'd be the one
To want my seeds to sow,
To want my roots to dig deep and grow.

    Maybe flowing with the wind
    Is not for me,
Free-falling is not the same as flying,
Peter should leave me alone now,
I don't want to end up dying.

    Thought I almost saw
    Heaven from where I was,
    But it lay barren
    With no gates or guards,
    Or even angels or gods,
Either the books or my mind are lying,
It is overrated to wish for dying.

    But I made it through
    Somehow I swam back ashore,
Fought the muddied waters that blinded me,
    Somehow I found my door.
    And to sanity I return,
With lessons and scars that still burn
It's good to look ahead with clarity,
It's good to be back to reality.

Love & Hate

PC: Elitedaily.com Silence woke her. As she laid on the floor, saliva drooping from her mouth, she realized it had gotten darker. She must have passed out for an hour or so. She sub-consciously touched her forehead. There was no blood this time but she knew it would bruise. The glass had hit her pretty hard, after all. Hits, Bruises and cover-ups were just another day in this household. As she got bearings of the time and place, she started to look around. Few yards away in the next room, she saw a heap of limbs passed out on the floor. Upon closer inspection, she could smell the concoction of alcohol, vomit and sweat. The view was jarring but she wasn't repulsed. The emotion that overcame her was pity. Pity at the man who was her husband. Pity at the man she once loved. As she looked back, she didn't know where exactly she she went wrong with her life. Born to a privileged family, she was smart and beautiful. No wonder, she had caught an athlete's eye. He was pre...

Sensations

PC: lovethispic.com He isn't cute. Cute doesn't even begin to describe half the person that he is. Cute is momentary, flimsy. And he is the furthest from flimsy as one can get. He is beautiful. His voice is beautiful, his laugh is beautiful and the way he looks at me, he makes me feel like I'm the most beautiful girl he's ever laid his eyes upon. He is a blazing flame. And I am but a mere moth. I'll get burnt, I know it. He doesn't promise me otherwise, either. Deciding it will be worth it has made all the difference. I could say I love him, but those three words can never justify the kaleidoscope of sensations I feel when I'm with him. He is all colors in one, at full brightness.

Blank Canvas

Clarissa stared at the blank Canvas. It was the umpteenth time she had tried drawing that day and every time she had failed miserably. Heaps of scrunched white paper laid beneath her feet but even so, she wasn't done with the assignment yet. Art class that afternoon had been immensely enlightening. "Art comes from you heart and not your head. It unfolds the mystery of your sub-conscious. You may pretend things to be otherwise, but always remember that a piece of art is the window to your soul. It never lies", he'd said. And She had nodded, to herself more than anyone else. At the end of the class he had told everyone to draw something that made them smile, without reason and in the most turbulent of times. The pencil she'd been holding fell from her grasp and she bounced back from her reverie. She brainstormed again and again. She picked up the pencil and thought of various ways it could go. What was the thing she lived for ? She thought of the place sh...

The Day I.....

My heart was still fluttering and it was only aggravating the situation further. It meant I still hadn't died, didn't it?  But Why ?  In the recent times, everybody has the day they’d die tattooed on their arm immediately after birth. It probably makes for a more sustainable living as people know their days are numbered so nobody does anything stupid at all. When someone is born, the medics check the Total Health Factor (THF) of the baby and calculate the day to which that person could live with no health-related obligations. People have THF ranging from 10 to even 35 years. People having THF lower than 10 are sent away, nobody except the government knows where. My THF is 16. And the date tattooed on my arm is 20th November 2311. Today. My providers had once told me about a time when death was uncertain. People lost the value of living because at one point everyone was just surviving for the sake of it. And the other major problem of that time was pe...

20 Things To Do Before 20

This post is a little different than the posts I usually do and it's "fun-er" than the rest of them too. I still have a year or two before I hit the twenties and that's where things get interesting. Teenage is probably going to be the most interesting part of our lives so I wanted to make a bucket list to make sure that this phase ceases in its full glory. So, this is my take on 20 things to do before 20 . Hope you enjoy going through it ! :) 20.  Bunking classes 19. Reading a good book and crying 18. Not studying for an exam but still acing it 17. Having a "love at first sight" moment 16. Watching a TV series until you get sick....literally 15. Trying a food you can't pronounce 14. Having at least 20 crushes 13. Talking to someone through the night till dawn 12. Going for shopping... alone! 11. Watching back-to-back movie at a cinema hall 10. Dating someone who isn't your type 9. Going to a dance party 8. Drunk dial...

I know I can count on you :)

Hey good people!! Its been long since I updated my blog. But you know, when I don't feel 'ít', I just can't write anything! lol I know that I keep telling this but every bit of the next sentence is true. I'm just crazy like that! :P Okay, so today's post is certainly not about my stupidity.(You had probably guessed that considering the large heading but I wanted to mention it anyways..lol)  The post right here is about the people who accept my tantrums, silliness, mood swings and most  importantly my 'short-temperedness' with ease ( I do 'chill out' after a short while even if I get angry VERY fast.. but lord bless those people!! It can be hard at times :P ) . This post is all about the people who make my life great. Yes,Friends are what i'm talking about...even if you didn't guess it already regarding the cheesy lines :P  Today happens to be THE friendship day , so, I thought what better day could I pick to write about th...

YOU & I

The sweet scent of summer had barely trickled into town. The trees were thawing, making way for color to seep back into the world. The sun dug into my eyes as I tried to take in the blueness of the sky. As my eyes started to tear up, I looked away and they fell on you. I didn't know you at all but as you made your way past me, I knew that that was what love looked like. You were beautiful. A tall, glorious vision I never wanted to forget. I wanted to encase you in a poem, to refrain you from ever leaving my mind, but you walked away before I could think of metaphors and similes. You didn't even look back. You just left. Too soon. The clouds greyed and the sky turned black. My heart was freezing and I desperately wished for the warmth of some one's arms around me. Much later, you told me how you liked people who could make their own fire. It was one of the things that I liked about you because it meant you didn't care how I wasn't looking for an...

Turning Time

PC: thereadingroom.com [Published as 'There and back again' on 'The Kathmandu Post' on 24th July, 2016] As he entered the strange world, the air immediately got crisper, cooler. The fact that he had expected it didn't change how it affected him every time. The hair down his spine stood straight and he grabbed onto his jacket a little tighter. He was already out of place with his pair of jeans and blue button-down. His only hope was that the jacket shielded him against the oddity. Being transported to the new timeline was always strange. And the fact that he was always transported to the same date, July 28, 1914 even stranger. As he shuffled out the alley, he knew exactly what to expect. Just like the other times, a woman came charging down the street with a kid. He always narrowly missed stumbling into them. So today, he made a point to take a pause before entering the street. He was learning, despite the fact that he didn’t know why or how he got sent to t...

One More Day

Photo Credit: Tumblr.com If I had one more day with you, I don't think I'd do many things differently.  We'd still wake up next to each other. You'd wake up first like you always did. As the morning sun pierces the curtains, I'd curl into you unconsciously, shielding myself. You'd smile unto yourself silently, embracing me. We'd be a tangle of messy hair, blankets and warmth. You'd be the first one to get up from the bed. "We'll be late", you'd say. "Can't we just take a day off? Go for a picnic maybe? It'd be our first date after getting married" , I'd suggest. "Sure honey", you'd say laughing. I'd wake up next and start making tea. After a while, you'd come out of the shower, all steam and water drops. Gently sipping my tea, I'd look at you. "What are you looking at, missus?" you'd say with pretend innocence. "Only my favorite person in the world...

Things and Places - I

Hello everyone, This month I've decided to do a series kind of thing. This is the first part of the story. And I'll be completing the story in the months to come. I might post something else in between but I'll definitely finish this one. Hope you like it :) Sameer She was browsing through the fiction section at a book store. She looked thoroughly engrossed yet was consciously glancing sideways. I suddenly looked away, embarrassed. As I glanced back at her general direction after a while, she was nervously taking out 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' from the shelf. I smiled. After that she disappeared once more  into the stacks and stacks of books. I picked up the book I was looking for and lazily made my way to the counter. Just when I handed over the money, she came along carrying 'The Great Gatsby', a Sidney Sheldon book  along with Harry Potter which was on the bottom of the bunch. Taking a cue from the universe about her meticulous timing...
